| Bio: | This is a character journal for J.K.Rowling's Sirius Black. I do not make any claim to this character. Additionally, I do not claim to be the actor Kevin Zegers. Character Name: Sirius Orion Black Nickname or alias: Padfoot (a name known only by his three close friends, James, Peter, and Remus -- no one else is aware of it) Age: 16 Birthday: March 22, 1960 Current Residence: His family's home, but Sirius isn't sure how much longer he can stand staying there. Playby: Kevin Zegers Schooling (location and year): Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry 1971-1977; Gryffindor. Family Blood status: Pure Parents: Orion and Walburga Black Siblings: Regulus Arcturus Black Other notable relatives: Alphard Black (uncle, lent him money), Andromeda Black (favorite cousin), Bellatrix and Narcissa (cousins). Pets: None. Sirius tried to keep a Devil's Snare for a pet last year at Hogwarts, but even that died under his care right before he was caught and sentenced to several week's detention for having it. He's not great on care, Black. Magic Magical Skills Potions: Moderate. Sirius has never had much patience for Potions, but he does have competence in their creation – if only because some of his pranks involved them. Charms: Excellent. Transfiguration: Excellent. Sirius spent many extra hours using this particular branch of magic to become an animagus in secret. Ancient Runes: Poor. He wouldn't know and Ancient Rune if it bit him. Arithmancy: Poor. He never took the class. Defence Against the Dark Arts: Excellent. Sirius always found the class interesting, especially after he and James decided to fight against Voldemort. Divination: Mediocre. He's taking the class, but most of his class-work consists of his attempts to see how mental of a prediction he can come up with in a half hour. Other: Sirius is the type to flourish his wand a lot when casting spells. It might be because he's a Black, and it might just be because Sirius is a narcissistic prat, but when he learned to duel, he learned to duel with style. He knows a good bit about proper dueling forms, and when he's overconfident, he'll use them. When he's a bit wary, however, Sirius is more likely to fight dirty and throw style and form out the window. Magical Oddities: Animagus. No real oddities. Patronus: A hulking dog, unsurprisingly. Boggart: An opponent he can't beat. The boggart would change forms constantly (likely taking on Voldemort's form a lot). Relationships Circle of friends: James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew are his closest friends with James being his best mate of the three. Enemies: Severus Snape, Voldemort, anyone who supports Voldemort. Romantic Relationships: None, though he loves to flirt. Sirius is a self-proclaimed permanent bachelor and loves to give happy couples a hard time. Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual (or so he claims), though he's not beyond joking and feigning being bi-sexual. History Sirius came into a world where he was immediately doted upon. He wasn't bad looking, he was pureblood, and he was the first son of an aristocratic sort of family. In his household, that made Sirius practically a god from the word go. As he grew older and his younger brother arrived in the world, Sirius' life as a deity slowly began to deteriorate. Even from the beginning he wasn't actually certain about his parents' pureblood mania. He had grown up with it, but when he actually took the time to step back and think for himself, Sirius began to realize that something didn't quite add up with the way of thinking. He was still young, though, and his parents were still on a fairly high pedestal. By the time he was nearing ten, though, that pedestal was already beginning to turn to dust. In part, this was due to his growing interest in jokes and rebellion, and his prat of a brother's increasing habit of finding ways to please their parents. By the time Sirius was eleven, he noted that his brother had completely taken over as the favorite of the family. He was just so damn obedient. Seething with outrage when his parents bought Regulus a starter broom when Sirius should have been getting at least a little special treatment, Sirius started his first year of Hogwarts. It was a shock to everyone but perhaps Sirius when he was Sorted into Gryffindor. For Sirius, it was revenge. During that first year he met James (who he quickly hit it off with and deemed his best mate by the first week), Remus (who he thought was a little off for at least the first few months before befriending him), and Peter (who he immediately took a liking to on the first night, seeing as how the boy was quick to worship his brilliance). On the opposite end of that, he found an arch nemesis the moment he stepped foot on the train. In as bad a mood as he was in, Sirius took out his considerable frustration on a certain Severus Snape. The boys never quite got on after that. As he continued through his years at Hogwarts, Sirius took on the reputation of a troublemaker. He became an animagus with James and Peter during fifth year, and currently he's helping his mates draw up a map of the entire school which they have affectionately dubbed the 'Marauders Map'. Sirius has never been exactly… serious… about anything in life. He is one of those people who naturally do well in school and almost anything else. Because of this, he hasn't ever see the need to try very hard or really care much about anything in life. One of Sirius' grandest pranks happened last year, he thinks. Tired of Snivellus nosing around trying to find out where Remus went every month, Sirius thought it would be hilarious to tell Snape how to get past the Whomping Willow's lethal branches. He waited until after the bothersome OWLs were finished, then set his prank into motion on his own. If James hadn't found out about the prank and stopped Snivellus, Sirius knows the other man might be dead. He's not ashamed that he did it, though. He rather thinks it taught Snivellus a lesson. Though fifth year seemed like a good year, Sirius' life seems to have gone downhill from there. The past summer has been... excruciating. Sirius doesn't know if he can put up with his family even another month. Hogwarts will begin soon, though. Whatever doesn't kill him makes him stronger, right? Character's Strengths and Weaknesses Sirius is an extremely confident human being, and is also extremely brave. There are few things that he wouldn't attempt if he needed to. He would risk death for anyone he knows. Sirius is also very good at seeing the possibilities of objects in any given situation. While in school, he uses this ability to come up with creative pranks. Another of his strengths is Sirius's charisma. He's very likable and easy to get along with because of his easy laugh and habit of lightening tense moods. On the flip-side of Sirius's confidence is his arrogance. When Sirius goes into the mode where he treats every idea that's not his as completely useless, it can cause considerable tension and friction with his comrades. It is also a rare day that Sirius will apologize for anything he does that does not lead to a close brush with death. Even if he's wrong in an argument, he won't admit it. Another weakness is how wrapped up Sirius can become during a duel. When he's in a battle, it's as if everything else in the world disappears for him. Sometimes he won't even hear when other people need his help. He has a bit of tunnel-vision at all times, so when something does manage to distract him, it leaves him completely open to attack. Personality Sirius is a haughty human being. Despite all of his rude and misbehaving ways, he's been brought up properly pureblood. If it actually tickled Sirius' fancy, he could be among the best of them with his manners and stately speech. But it doesn't tickle his fancy. In fact, Sirius would yell every expletive he knew at the top of his lungs just to spite the idea of his proper upbringing. It didn't taken but one very short year at Hogwarts for Sirius to gleefully smudge away a decade of instruction in manners. Even without trying, though, he still has some of that casual elegance that the nobler pureblood houses are known for. To back it up, he has a nasty streak that any Slytherin would be proud of... if it wasn't constantly being turned on them. Sirius has a twisted sense of humor and can almost always make a joke out of a situation. On the opposite hand, however, he's given to abrupt mood swings and bitter sulks. Some of the most well-known aspects of his personality are his coming up with elaborate conspiracy theories, doing something just because there's danger involved, and having little regard for other people's feelings. Sirius is a bit of a character, and it takes some ruddy amazing friends to put up with him on a daily basis. Likes: Butterbeer (though he won't say no to firewhiskey), chips, pranks, laughing, dueling, good comebacks, banter, humiliating people he doesn't like, being better than other people, knowing that he's rather handsome. Dislikes: Arrogance in anyone but himself and James (Sirius is a true hypocrite), the Dark Arts, pureblood mania, fish, studying too much, constant 'pity me' angst. Quirks: If he passes a mirror, he's going to look into it. There is no way to prevent this. If you stand between Sirius and a mirror, it's going to drive him mad while he tries to catch a glimpse of himself. He adores his hair, and it's almost impossible for him to go through a day without fixing it at least once. Sirius also has a habit of making exaggerated faces. Sometimes, a person could swear Sirius's face is made of rubber. Fears: Losing the war, but more particular he's afraid of losing his best mate. He never got on well with most of his family, so he's very close to the Potters and their son. James is more like a brother to him than anyone else, and it would kill him to deal with his death. Appearance Height: 6' Weight: 135 lb Hair colour: Black. With his foul mood lately, he's let it grow out almost to his shoulders and not borthered to get it trimmed. Eye colour: Grey Special marks and their meaning: None so far. Amazingly, Sirius has gotten any scars yet.
